Microsoft Dynamics NAV 7 Plans Include RTC Client Updates, SharePoint Framework
We've known for well over a year that the Microsoft Dynamics NAV product managers plan bring NAV ‘7' to market with more SharePoint integration. Like Dynamics AX and almost any other enterprise application that wishes to expand its usage within the Microsoft stack, easily adding web parts to SharePoint should be a given.
At the NAVTechDays event earlier this month, attendees learned more about specific features of NAV 7 like an updated role-tailored client (RTC) that looks more like Office 2010 and a "NAV SharePoint Framework" or "NAV Portal Framework", or NPF, which is part of what the NAV team has long said would be a priority in NAV 7 - making it easier for occasional users to access nearly any Dynamics NAV screens they need from within SharePoint.
According to Dynamics NAV MVP Kamil Sacek on his blog, the NAV 7 will make the process of integrating with SharePoint easy - no coding:
It means that you can now include NAV page directly within your SharePoint through just using special URL for any page which exists inside NAV, or you can use Sharepoint WebPart to include any NAV page as standard webpart and connect it with other parts on the page. What to use in which case depends on the context.
