2026 Application Access Governance Report

Most organizations are confident in their application access controls. However, persistent control gaps tell a different story. As organizations add more ERP, CRM, HCM, and other business applications, the scope of governance expands. And as AI agents gain access inside those applications, the stakes get higher.

Based on an independent survey of 1,000 senior finance and technology decision-makers in the US and UK, the Delinea Fastpath Application Access Governance Report reveals where confidence exceeds control effectiveness and outlines six best practices organizations can follow to close the gap.

  • 95% of organizations are confident their access controls would pass an audit.
  • 51% report the same or similar access findings recurring in consecutive years or the same findings open for three or more years.
  • 52% of organizations don’t continuously monitor and remediate excess access.
  • 78% of organizations report fragmented ownership or limited visibility for access governance across critical business applications.
