Stefano Tempesta, Microsoft regional director and MVP with expertise in Dynamics 365/CRM and SharePoint, set out to help other Dynamics users get a feel for different modules in Dynamics 365 for Talent in a recent MSDW webcast.

"[Talent] really embraces the HR processes from the...phase before the recruitment process ... through the onboarding process," he explained. Different self-service activities like managing the organization structure, employee performance, and hiring are all integrated in the Talent tool. Through a series of different modules and integrations Talent draws on the capabilities of the Microsoft ecosystem to integrate HR functions throughout the employment lifecycle.

The modules in Talent run against the Common Data Service (CDS), allowing other solutions in the Dynamics 365 family, such as Sales or Finance and Operations, to share information. Talent is connected to LinkedIn, creating what Tempesta describes as a natural evolution of the Microsoft acquisition in 2016.

The Attract module connects candidates who are not within the organization structure to Talent. The module defines milestones, and the activities or "touchpoints" performed during the recruitment process. These include the application, an assessment, interview, and potentially a final step such as hiring.
