When you work day in and day out with a set of demonstration data for enterprise software, you can grow attached to the strangest things about it. Fake customers, item numbers, journal entries, report results, and fake users become a comfort, a sanity check, and a trusted companion in situations where the stakes can be high - competitive benchmarks, tight project deadlines, or customer support escalations, for example. When the time comes, that demo data set is always there, ready to be put through its paces once again.

In the case of Microsoft Dynamics GP, the demo data set of choice is based on a company called Fabrikam. It has survived for years and is considered a key component of most GP professional's toolboxes - for demonstrations, for R&D, for training, and more.

Logging into the Fabrikam company in a GP environment  sets the date of the environment to a point in the future so the demo data will work correctly. That date was set years ago to today, April 12, 2017. That makes today #FabrikamDay.
