Perceptive Software Ramps up Strategic Acquisitions Through Spring 2012

Microsoft Dynamics ISV Perceptive Software has made four key acquisitions in recent months, backed by its parent company Lexmark, to broaden its content management offerings from the more conventional enterprise content management capabilities to a range of other technology in the realm of contact management, data capture, business process management, and improved footprints in a range of industries.

These acquisitions, worth more than $200 million in total according to company announcements, date back to the fall of 2011 and have continued into the spring of 2012.  In October, Lexmark acquired Dutch company Pallas Athena for $50 million with plans to make it a business unit of Perceptive. 

Pallas Athena specializes in business process management (BPM), document output management (DOM), and process mining software, with industry experience in the insurance, government and life sciences segments.  Their software products enable a range of business process management (BPM) capabilities, including dynamic case management and customer communications management.

In announcing the acquisition, the company noted the close alignment of Pallas Athena's software to Perceptive's core ECM capabilities, along with valuable industry experience in significant industry experience in the insurance, government and life sciences segments and specialization in functional areas including dynamic case management and customer communications management.

"BPM is a perfect complement to Perceptive Software's content-driven ECM solutions; it strengthens the impact of the context side of our ‘content in context' approach," said Scott Coons, Perceptive Software's president and chief executive officer and Lexmark vice president.
