Newly promoted Microsoft CVP talks Dynamics 365 APIs, PowerApps licensing, CDS advances
Microsoft has promoted Power Platform product leader Charles Lamanna to corporate vice president overseeing the Citizen Application Platform. While the company hadn't made a formal announcement of his move up from General Manager, Lamanna talked about the promotion, along with recent hot topics in the Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement and Power Platform community in a new interview (both audio and transcript) with Microsoft MVP Steve Mordue.
Though Lamanna is now a Microsoft CVP, he will continue to report to CVP James Phillips, according to a source. Phillips has overall R&D responsibilities for both Power Platform and Dynamics 365 products. Lamanna told Mordue that his product area is referred to as Citizen Application Platform, a name that has been around for a while and is meant to describe the citizen developer ethos of PowerApps and Flow and its low-code approach.
In the interview, Lamanna aimed to alleviate concerns expressed by Microsoft partners, like the new API limits and how customers can use the new PowerApps licenses with first party apps. He also discussed ways that the Common Data Service is maturing, and the importance of industry accelerators, among other topics.
