New SharePoint-based apparel product lifecycle management (PLM) offering for Microsoft Dynamics AX

EdgeAX, a unit of Visionet Systems, Inc., has rolled out a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solution for apparel that's embedded in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012. As the vendor's first PLM product, EdgeAX PLM provides seasonal line planning and specification packages that enable business collaboration among partners.

According to a company press release, EdgeAX PLM provides out-of-the box integration with the downstream supply chain processes, while the SharePoint-based enterprise and designer portals facilitate collaboration.

Rosetta Gyimesi, EdgeAX's executive vice president and principal, Direct to Consumer Solutions, says key features that the vendor built on top of SharePoint include a designer portal, a vendor portal, product specifications, bill of materials (BOM), request for quotation (RFQ), and tech pack management.

The new PLM solution integrates with other Dynamics AX-based systems, according to the company. "We have designed a tight footprint for quicker and easier installs for our partners and customers," says Gyimesi. "The total cost of ownership is kept at a manageable level so that organizations of all sizes can benefit from this next generation collaborative PLM system."

Gyimesi says processes that EdgeAX PLM enables in conjunction with Dynamics AX include product setup, product design, costing, and sample order management cycle.

"EdgeAX PLM is different from other apparel PLM solutions because it includes integrated downstream supply chain management functions," says Gyimesi, "and complete cycle coverage - from seasonal concept to sample orders to quality management."
