New Service Pack Expands Internet Marketing Capabilities of CRM Online - Limited to adCenter

Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online will provide a variety of new Internet marketing capabilities via its first service pack, which becomes available today. Access is understood to be limited to Microsoft adCenter

The service pack, which is available to customers at no charge, "includes new features that will enable businesses to create, monitor and optimize Internet marketing campaigns quickly and efficiently, all from within their existing CRM environment," Microsoft said in its announcement. CRM Online officially debuted in April, after months of promotional buildup,  as an online CRM tool hosted by Microsoft, and thus an alternative to a premise-based CRM program.

But Microsoft confirmed that the service pack's new features will perform much like the demonstrations the company conducted at last March's Convergence conference--the module will access only the Microsoft adCenter, which funnels ads to Microsoft's Live Search, which provides search results using MSN, and the company's competitive answer to Google Adsense and Yahoo Publisher Network. These latter two, of course, currently handle the vast majority of Internet advertising campaigns. 

The Internet market module is understood to have been written to manage ads across multiple networks, including Google and Yahoo, but that capability will apparently have to wait. Microsoft presumably wants to see how effective its new CRM Online service pack is at steering users to the Microsoft adCenter.

According to Microsoft's announcement, the service pack's new marketing functionality will enable organizations to carry out the following tasks on adCenter:
