Microsoft updates SMB ERP cloud migration roadmap: New Dynamics GP to Business Central tooling, broader version support planned

Microsoft will release new and improved tools for Dynamics GP users who want to move to Dynamics 365 Business Central in the public cloud. Updates rolling out from February through April 2020 will support migrations from all currently supported versions of Dynamics GP, NAV, and on-premises Business Central, and the tools will provide broader coverage.

Microsoft will be prioritizing SMB migrations, senior program manager Jen Ranz told Dynamics GP and SL partners in a recent webcast. The team are paying attention to the GP to Business Central path in the short term, but the overall SMB ERP roadmap will get support for Business Central migration, including from Dynamics SL and from older versions of NAV. And support for GP to Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations migrations is on the longer term outlook for 2021.
