Microsoft updates Dynamics 365 retail story with e-commerce, IoT capabilities

by Jason Gumpert

Microsoft is adding e-commerce and IoT tools for retail to the Dynamics 365 product lineup.

Dynamics 365 for Retail will gain a new e-commerce engine and be re-branded as Dynamics 365 Commerce. The solution will also include built in content management and digital asset management capabilities, a spokesperson told MSDW.

The Commerce offering promises to extend what the Retail offering already aimed to deliver: operational and customer-centric data and management tools that serve retailers across channels. As D365 Commerce, Microsoft says the product will deliver "a unified customer experience" and operational capabilities in areas like inventory and store management.
