Microsoft shares first preview of Dynamics 365 Business Central with new base application

Microsoft  has reached a new milestone this week in transitioning Dynamics 365 Business Central to a new application development model. The February 2019 developer preview of the cloud-focused SMB ERP solution provides "the base application fully on AL language."

That news came from Susanne Windfield on the Dynamics 365 Business Central blog for partners. There is a new Docker image with this version, with additional images still due to start covering various country codes.

This Developer Preview is available only through the Ready to Go program, a set of partner support and education resources.

This week's announcement reflects plans Microsoft communicated in late 2018 to transition the solution away from C/AL and to the newer AL language with an extensions-based development model.
