Microsoft promises Dynamics GP product surprises, roadmap update at Technical Airlift 2013

The Microsoft Dynamics GP team believe they can amaze partners this September at the GP Technical Airlift with some unexpected and exciting, but secretive, new features - features that will "completely surprise people"; Features that some product managers didn't even know about until development previewed them at a recent meeting. 

This prediction comes from Jay Manley, Dynamics GP senior product manager and Microsoft's point person on this year's Airlift in Fargo, September 17 to 20. "Features" may not even be the right word to describe exactly what's coming; Manley said he couldn't describe it any other way at this point.

The roadmap may offer some hints on all the secrecy. Roadmap updates at Airlift will look closely at the evolution of the GP web client, says Manley.  The various phases of the web client, which were expected to require about 12 months to complete, have been completed faster than expected, meaning that all planned functionality in the remaining 3 phases will be released by August.  Those phases are:

  • Phase 3 Project Accounting
  • Phase 4 Field Service
  • Phase 5 Manufacturing

A faster-than-expected completion of the web client should be good news for everyone. It will encourage more partners to get trained on it and get more new and upgrading customers looking at the technology.
