Plugin action speaks louder than words
Writing on his blog, Ben den Blanken noted that he has been building Copilot Studio topics manually (he presented an example of the HR Copilot).
However, den Blanken wrote that in this world of generative AI, he still supports using plugin actions to create wrappers around connectors, cloud flows, and skills.
He explained that the AI will recognize the intent of the user and will pick the right action to fulfill that intent, and If there are input parameters that need to be filled in, the AI will query the user about it.
In his blog, den Blanken went through the steps to take to make the first action where a user can submit a leave request. First, den Blanken described the steps you need to take to create the plugin action and then showed how it works. He also explained some of the differences between using a plugin action and building a topic manually.
How to select emails for people picker updates in Power Automate
On the Let's Power Automate blog, Tom Riha noted that when you’re working with big SharePoint lists, the "update item" action might get a bit confusing.
He stated that the update item shows you all the columns and asks you to put a value in all the mandatory ones, even if you only want to update a single column.
As such, Riha wrote that a better solution would be an HTTP request, unless it's a people picker column where the format adds another level of complexity. He then explained how to "select" the user emails.
Riha noted that updating SharePoint columns via HTTP requests is one of the key functionalities in a flow. And although most columns are easy to update with just a few lines of code, people picker is quite challenging, especially when Power Automate gives you only emails.
However, he added that the process is similar to other columns – you just need the data in a specific format – and it’s only the format that requires a few more steps in this situation.
