E-commerce vendor Shopify has rolled out a Global ERP Program to build official integrations with partners including Microsoft, NetSuite, Infor, Acumatica, and Brightpearl.

Microsoft will participate via Dynamics 365 Business Central, its SMB ERP offering. ERP vendors will be able to, in Shopify's words, "build direct integrations into the Shopify App Store."

The Business Central integration will be available in early 2022, according to Shopify. Others are already available.

“With the launch of the Global ERP Program, we’re demonstrating our investment in supporting our enterprise merchants," stated Shopify vice president Mark Bergen.

Investing in integration of e-Commerce is nothing new for ERP customers with retail channels. Many integration vendors have proven track records of connecting all manner of e-commerce platforms with ERPs, including the various Dynamics products. But Shopify says its new Global ERP Program will offer certified apps that "directly integrate" without the need for third parties. These integrations will be developed with support from Shopify's Partner Solutions Engineering Team, according to the company.

Microsoft general manager Mike Morton wrote that "[t]he joint effort furthers the commitment of Dynamics 365 Business Central to connect data to help businesses adapt faster, work smarter, and perform better." And he noted that Microsoft still directs corporate and enterprise customers toward Dynamics 365 Commerce, which offers tools for selling through both online and offline channels.
