Last summer, Microsoft acquired CloudKnox Security to boost its unified privilege management capabilities. Now, following up on a public preview of the acquired technology  in February, Microsoft announced the general availability of the offering as Microsoft Entra Permissions Management, expanding the Microsoft Entra portfolio.

Permissions Management is available as a free standing solution, priced at $125 per resource, per year. It supports Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform and resources like containers, compute, serverless functions, and databases. Customers are able to try the offering with a 90-day free trial. A few hours after onboarding Permissions Management generates a Permissions Analytics Report to identify areas of risk.

As part of GA, Microsoft announced automated onboarding and a Permission Creep Index, visible within the Defender for Cloud dashboard.
