Jan Sillemann, a Microsoft general manager and director of product management for Dynamics NAV, is departing Microsoft.

His successor hasn't yet been named.

The planned departure was first reported on Eric Wauters' blog, and then confirmed by Guy Weismantel, director of marketing, Microsoft Dynamics ERP.

"Jan is leaving the Microsoft organization to pursue some other opportunities," Weismantel stated. "We are looking for a replacement right now. We have a lot of talented people to look at."

While indicating Microsoft is looking internally for a replacement, he said it isn't definite that Sillemann's replacement will come from within the company.

Update: In an email, Jan told MSDynamicsWorld.com that his departure is due to the growing amount of travel in his work, which has become difficult to balance with his personal life. He remains positive on his 16 years working with Dynamics NAV:

"I have been with Microsoft and Navision Software for 16 years – it has been a fantastic journey from a smaller Danish company to what the Dynamics NAV business is today. I have learned a lot and I have met many very talented and fantastic people – internally as well as with partners. Many of which I’m sure will continue as close personal connections in the future."

As for the future, Silleman's plans are still uncertain, but he said, "[i]t is very likely that I will work with something related to my two primary skills and areas of interest: product management and strategic business development." He added that he has no plans to work on competing products.
