How to Assign (Super) Read-Only Users: Vjekoslav Babic's Navigate into Success explains how to create a super read-only user role so developers can have access to everything, but cannot make any changes:

"Working as a consultant, and having seen sorts of horror situations such as developers accidentally DELETEALL-ing the G/L Entry table or posting test invoices in production database, I often suggest to my customers to simply setup up a SUPER-READONLY user role... So now you can assign this role to your consultants and your support personnel and give them a full unrestricted read-only access to the whole system, without having to worry if any action they did will lose your sleep at night."

Tip: Print Report ID on Reports: Mark Brummel suggests always printing the report number in the header or footer:

"When an end user asks you to change a report, they often show a paper print of the report with the changes drawn with a pen or marker. They often (or always) don't know the report number and if you're unlucky the report is printed in some automatic process and you'll have to dig into the code to find the report ID. This can be easily solved by printing the report number in the header or footer... when doing this ...
