Building a Dynamics GP test environment on a B-series Azure virtual machine: Not so fast!

On the Dynamics GP Land blog, Steve Endow wrote that with the recent release of Dynamics GP 2018, he wanted to set up a new virtual machine (VM) for testing and development.

Endow wrote that he currently run his own Hyper-V server, which serves up 20 different virtual machines, and has been very low cost and is extremely fast. 

Endow wrote that several times over the past few years, he looked into the cost of hosting a few virtual machines in the cloud. He estimated that it would cost over $300 a month to do so:

That cost, on top of having to severely limit the number of VMs I can run just didn't make sense for hosting my internal development VMs.

However, recently MVP Beat Bucher told Endow about a new Azure VM that was lower cost:  the B-Series "burstable" VM. Bucher said that he was able to run two of the B4ms machines continuously for about $150 per month. 

Intrigued, Endow set up a new B2ms virtual machine on Azure, running Windows Server. You can find out what happened next here.
