DNS overview for external workflow 2.0 email notification approval
On the Dynamics GP Support and Services Blog, Dan Peltier said that there has been a lot of discussion around workflow actions that you can include in your workflow email notifications.
Peltier said that the team was seeing a lot of customers setting up the approve and reject actions in their notification. However, he said that people don't seem to understand how to get this working so that you can click the approve button, and approve the document from anywhere, not just when you're connected to your local network.
In his blog post, Peltier gave an overview of the various pieces involved with this process, so you can approve documents from outside the network. You can find out how here.
Historical GP reports and Power BI
On his DynamicsAccounting.net blog, Mark Polino said that it's often hard to get historical Dynamics GP reports into Power BI.
Reports like the Payables or Receivables Historical Aged Trial Balance for example or the Historical Inventory Trial Balance use temporary tables in GP and are really hard to reproduce outside the application. The SSRS versions of these reports included with Dynamics GP, use stored procedures, but Power BI doesn’t support stored procedures.
