Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 R2 targeted 'before June' 2014 (UPDATED)

The next update to Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013, called GP 2013 R2, appears to now have a target release date in the range of late March to May 2014. 

(Editor's Note: An earlier report from a Microsoft source to a GP blogger noted that GP 2013 R2 will be released in May 2014, but that statement appears to have been retracted.

One indication of the timing came from Microsoft's Pam Misialek at a GPUG webcast on Tuesday, where she noted the release plans, saying "it will ship roughly after Convergence and before June".

Microsoft decided on the release name of GP 2013 R2 rather than "SP3" due to its size. According to one report, the release has been characterized as "very large", presumably in comparison to a typical service pack, with both table changes and a range of new features.

Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 R2 Big Rocks 

GP 2013 R2 is going to feature the "big rocks" that Microsoft outlined in September 2013 at the GP Technical Airlift, back when the release was still thought of as SP3. Those big rocks haven't changed - new requisitions capabilities, a new workflow framework, the first phase of updated identity management, and a new procurement companion app.
