Interest in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 really began with January's AX Technical Conference in Redmond.  It was there that AX "6" became AX 2012, and it was also where the technical community got its first detailed look at the features, architecture, and industry focus areas.  That January 2011 event was an easy sellout, with a thousand partners and customers eager to get a first look at the new  version that was released by August 2011.

The Microsoft Dynamics AX technical teams are now hard at work planning another AX Technical Conference for partners and customers in Nice from November 14 to 16.  The message from Microsoft: "The last Technical Conference was about what we built as features. The event will feature three keynotes - one focusing on AX 2012, one on the future roadmap, and a business update from the EMEA management. There are also 60 Breakouts and 24 Chalk Talks thru 5 Tracks. Finally, there are 5 focus rooms - 4 for Industry and one for Solution Architecture.

With so many sessions, content at the event covers a broad range of topics- user experience, enterprise portal, reporting, developer tools, debugging, models and meta data, financials, compliance, sales and purchase orders, workflow, and a whole lot more.

As for future direction ...
