Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 Will Arrive December 1, Managers Reconfirm

Though it may not be unknown any longer, Microsoft re-confirmed its December 1 release date for Dynamics AX 2012 R2 today at the Dynamics AX Technical Conference in Bellevue, Washington. 

Dynamics AX general manager Christian Pedersen highlighted the most important aspects of the new release in a new blog post, citing in particular its ability to support global enterprises with broader regulatory support, more languages, and centralized deployments. "We will now offer 36 country localizations with built-in regulatory requirements for some of the world's fastest growing markets, including 11 new localizations for Japan, India, Brazil, Russia, China, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland," Pedersen wrote.

Dynamics AX product management director Kees Hertogh, writing in a separate blog post, groups the enhancements of R2 into four main areas: industry and administrative processes, business insight, global reach, and simplification of the application lifecycle.

Hertogh notes that in retail, the R2 release pushes out a range of improvements, including in managing assortments, cross-channel management, and a new web storefront that is powered by SharePoint 2013 "which enables our customers to provide modern and integrated web commerce experience across different devices to their customers and is fully integrated into Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012."
