Overview of telemetry data in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations

Writing on his blog, Alex Meyer stated that In the 10.0.30 release of Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, Microsoft added the ability for customers to report on the telemetry data of their end users.  Meyer offered a brief overview of this feature and then explained ways to use this data.

The telemetry data from Microsoft is stored in Azure Application Insights, he wrote, so users have to create a resource where they can store the data. Once you create that resource, Meyer pointed out that you need to pay attention to the instrumentation key because you will need that in subsequent steps.

After you enable the feature, you can then configure which events you want to enable in the "configure" tab. In his post, Meyer also explained how to query the data in Application Insights.

Understanding tiers performance

On his blog, Denis Trunin noted that ERP system performance is always a key topic in a system implementation, and especially so in a cloud-based architecture. He noted that general planning is described in the following docs article: Environment Planning and then he pointed out the different tiers using a screenshot.

While Microsoft offers general environment planning documents, Trunin noted that there isn't much information publicly available related to D365FO hardware configuration for these tiers. In his blog post, Trunin offered information on some cases to help you understand D365FO performance basics. Specifically, he described some performance measures related to different D365FO environments.
