How to design a successful integration

On Denis Trunin's X++ Programming Blog, Trunin explained that there are a number of ways to integrate Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations and external systems.

However, to figure out the approach that's right for you, it's important to understand the integration requirements before you do the actual programming and set up.

In his blog post, Trunin pointed to a checklist of what you need to consider to successfully design an integration solution.

Every question in this document is important and can dramatically change the integration approach. For example, if you have an external system that needs to query D365FO for some information(like item prices) and it requires 24x7 availability, you can't use any direct calls(like OData, Webservices) to D365FO as it obviously will not be available 24x7(during new releases, hotfix installations).

In his blog post Trunin described some of the issues you might run into and what you can do to mitigate them.

How to add new currency to Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations

On Mohamed Aamer's MS Dynamics Blog, Aamer stated that D365FO ships with 177 global currencies. However, there may be times customers need to input additional currencies.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations has a reserved ISO code 999 to be utilized in such scenario of adding new currency, at the first glance it is not usable to have currency ISO code as Unknown currency code.

In his blog post, Aamer laid out the steps necessary to add new currency to D365FO utilizing ISO code 999 in a user-friendly way.

You can find out how to do it here.
