Data management in D365FO: Running a specific import project

On the Encore blog, Bill Rozad discussed the data management framework in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations. He explained that it was mainly used by systems admins and technical users and supported using data entities in these core data management scenarios:

  • Data migration to quickly migrate reference, master, and document data from legacy or external systems
  • Set up and copy configurations between companies or environments
  • Integrations

Rozad stated that companies typically don't want to let functional users access any part of the data management process. However, there are a couple legitimate reasons for certain users to have limited data management access.
