X++ tips and tricks: checking security privileges or duties of a user in X++

Writing on the Docentric blog, Nenad Krantic stated that security is a big part of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations. As such, he decided to write about some particulars of checking user privileges and duties that might not be immediately obvious.

Krantic noted that typically security is taken care of by the security framework, which is used to create privileges, duties, and roles, then assign them to user interface artifacts, such as menu items.

However, he asked: what if you want to create a new functionality that needs to check whether a user has a privilege or duty in X++?

It may seem simple, but there is a pitfall to avoid in order to get the expected results. Before that we need to first look at how users are added to roles and how it all works in the background.

In his blog post, Krantic explained the two most common ways to assign users to roles as well as how check whether a user has a privilege.

Exploring the 'find next' flag for discount trade agreement journal

On the CloudFronts blog, Hitesh Jingare wrote that when you create a trade agreement in D365FO, you may come across the "find next" option.

In his blog post, Jingare explained what the find next flag does and how it affects the system when calculating discounts. Jingare noted that this option accumulates trade agreement lines if there are multiple eligible lines.

When this feature is turned on, the system will implement all discounts, without considering the current trade agreement journal lines’ status. If the find next feature is not available, the system will look for the trade agreement journal line with the highest level of detail.

Jingare then offered an example to help you better understand the find next option.
