Queue usage to decouple your serverless integrations

On the Stefano Demiliani Technical Blog, Demiliani stated that recently he's had a lot of discussions with partners in the Dynamics community asking for a better way to handle the reliability of integrations between external applications and Dynamics 365 Business Central in a fully cloud world.

Demiliani stated that D365BC and the external apps have to communicate in a reliable way without losing transactions. However, he said they usually have different requirements and operational limits.

In his blog post, Demiliani noted that the classical configuration that he sees on 99% of projects is one in which D365BC sends transactions to the external applications and the external applications send transactions to D365BC. Both applications are using their own set of APIs or web services that they expose.

According to Demiliani, that only works if both systems exchange a small number of transactions. When the number of transactions increases, for example, you start to have big problems and your integrations become unreliable. When that happens, he suggests you decouple the two systems. Demiliani then explained how to do it.
