Obsoleted and 'no longer invoked' events in v26 Business Central
Writing on his blog, Waldo, aka Eric Wauters, stated that since version 19 of Business Central, Microsoft has overhauled the way invoices get posted for sales, purchase, and service documents.
He noted that they replaced the old hard-coded posting steps with a brand new "extensible invoice posting engine." Wauters wrote that this new engine gives you a lot more flexibility and room to customize, fixing many of the limits that existed previously.
The change will be a big deal for anyone who built solutions on top of the old buffer table, he believes. Wauters pointed out that if you've worked on ISV or PTE apps, you’ll need to learn these new pieces:
- A new invoice posting buffer table
- An invoice posting interface
- Centralized event publishers
In his blog post, Wauters focused on the centralized event publishers: what they are, how they work, and why they matter.
Using posting date ranges and inventory periods
On the ERP Software Blog, an author from Ternpoint Solutions wrote that at some point you might be asked to investigate entries that were posted on unexpected dates, often linked to inventory transactions.
