Check posting date before posting (preview posting) in the sales and purchase documents – customization

Writing on his blog, Yun Zhu discussed a question a user recently asked: How can you check the posting date in BC before posting (a kind of preview posting) in sales and purchase documents?

Zhu stated that posting periods control when users are allowed to post entries to the general ledger. He wrote that you can set this up on the general ledger setup page by entering the start and end dates in the "allow posting from" and "allow posting to" fields.

Zhu added that these posting periods apply to the whole company and all users. If you need to make exceptions, you can set up different posting periods for certain users on the user setup page. He noted that these user-specific settings will override the ones defined on the general ledger setup page.

However, Zhu wrote that this partner also wants to add a simple control: if the posting date is not in the current month, a message box should appear asking the user to confirm whether they really want to post it. Unfortunately, he stated that this feature isn't available in the standard version, so it would need to be customized.
