Dynamics 365 Business Central: AppSource demystified

On the Stefano Demiliani Technical Blog, Demiliani stated that when you develop solutions for Dynamics 365 Business Central, you can basically release your extensions in two ways: As a per-tenant extension (PTE) or on AppSource.

He explained that per-tenant extensions are "customizations," that you develop directly for a customer tenant and that you won't distribute widely. Demiliani pointed out that partners are totally responsible to publish, upgrade, and maintain their PTEs for their customers.

There's not an approval process by Microsoft for publishing these extensions and you're forced to used the 50000..99999 object range.

Demiliani then discussed releasing extensions on AppSource. You can read about it here.

OCR service setup and process in D365 Business Central

On the CloudFronts blog, Aditya Prabhu discussed how the OCR (optical character recognition) setup in D365 Business Central works. You can use built-in OCR (from Kofax) to automate the data entry process for vendor invoices.

Then when you receive a purchase order from a vendor, the client manually does the entries in an Excel spreadsheet or stores the invoice in a file. However, with Business Central, you can store the invoices in the cloud, he noted.

You can learn how to set up the pre-built OCR service in D365BC here.
