Microsoft details Feb 2018 update to Dynamics 365 Field Services Universal Resource Scheduling app

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Field Services Vertical Schedule Board

Microsoft has released an update to its Universal Resource Scheduling app for Dynamics 365 for Field Services that focuses on customers, with improvements in user experience, feature discoverability, stability, and highly requested scenarios.

The scheduling enhancements include:

  • A new user experience for resource sorting on Schedule Board that enables users to easily select one-or multiple-sort options for sorting resources on the Schedule Board.
  • Day of week added to horizontal hourly Schedule Board to help users save time by enabling them to see what day of the week each date was.
  • Onsite resource substitution, which enables the schedule assistant to run and search for a resource with the initial requirement attributes (characteristics, territory, etc). In addition, it will now search for a resource that can travel and arrive at exactly the same time the previous resource planned to arrive at the customer.
  • A slide up booking requirement grid when a user clicks book on top ribbon, which makes the flow more discoverable for users who leverage the book button on the top toolbar. If a user clicks the book button prior to selecting a requirement, the system informs the user that a requirement needs to be selected to book. Now, the app also exposes the booking requirements grid, making it simple to learn this usage path.
