Microsoft to deliver Dynamics CRM Online, Office 365 from Japan local datacenters

Microsoft will extend its cloud services in Japan with new local data centers supporting both Office 365 and Dynamics CRM Online, the company announced today.

Microsoft will offer Japan locally hosted Office 365 services before the end of calendar 2014, and Dynamics CRM Online by the end of the first quarter of CY2015. Microsoft has been delivering Microsoft Azure (Cloud Platform Service) from datacenters in two regions in Japan (Japan East and Japan West) since February of 2014.

"With increased demand for both Office 365 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM in Japan, we are fully committed to delivering the best possible service to this region," wrote Microsoft corporate vice president John Case in a blog post related to the announcement. He noted the need for data stored within Japan for regulatory compliance in industries including healthcare, financial services, and government.

CRM Online will be available in 105 markets by the end of the year, according to Dynamics CRM vice president Bob Stutz in a related blog post

Existing Office 365 customers in Japan will have their data moved from other APAC data centers to Japan as a result of the change.

Microsoft Dynamics Marketing will also be adding Japan as a supported locale as part of the autumn 2014 release wave.
