Microsoft Azure Updates: Cloud vulnerabilities; Shared Disks; Connected Vehicle Platform; New partnerships; Great Barrier Reef

In a week peppered with information about Shared Disks, new partnerships, and the Connected Vehicle Platform, Microsoft also let users know about many smaller changes coming to Azure.

In its new "Mitigating Cloud Vulnerabilities" report, the US National Security Agency cautioned organizations about the risks associated with misconfigured privacy settings. Ironically, the report came out the same day—January 22—as news that 250 million technical support accounts were exposed due to an Azure misconfiguration.

Starting in March, Azure SQL Database is set to add automatic tuning default settings to boost database performance. This will be back-applied to existing servers.
