Microsoft announces its first data center in Greece

As part of its "GR for GRowth" initiative, Microsoft announced that it will build new data centers in Greece—its first in the country to date—and indicated that it plans to train up to 100,000 people with digital skills by 2025.

The announcement, made at the New Acropolis Museum comes after a long-period of growth in the Greek market. Currently, the country has over 3,000 Microsoft partners. Customers like Alpha Bank, Piraeus Bank, Public Power Corporation, National Bank of Greece and Eurobank have all announced their intention to participate in the data center expansion. Microsoft aims to support cultural preservation efforts through its AI for Cultural Heritage program. In fact, it is collaborating with the Ministry of Culture and Sports to leverage AI to create 3D presentations related to the Ancient City of Olympia.
