Microsoft and Humana announced a new partnership to leverage Azure AI and Microsoft 365 to improve healthcare for Humana members. The partnership promises to employ interoperability standards like FHIR to help make better real-time decisions with the aim of improving preventive care, tracking medications and identifying social factors in health. Clinicians will be able to use speech recognition and natural language processing, with Azure AI used to decipher different languages in medical records.

As part of the seven year agreement, Humana will standardize its employees on Teams and Microsoft 365, as well as focus on building virtual medicine solutions. The two companies agreed to direct funding and dedicated R&D teams over the course of several years.
