Microsoft to add new finance, revenue recognition, warehouse tools to Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations in late 2018
Microsoft will be adding new capabilities to Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations (D365FO) in several areas with its Fall 2018 release wave thanks to new IP deals with partners. The enhancements range from finance and public sector to revenue recognition rules compliance to advanced warehouse and transportation capabilities.
The new agreements were announced at Summit EMEA 2018 in Dublin today by D365FO general manager Muhammad Alam.
A deal with Tyler Technologies will add enhancements to reporting, budgeting, encumberance, vendor collaboration, vendor 1099s (in the US), and the distribution of income accrued on cash balances.
Microsoft will gain capabilities from Armanino LLP around revenue recognition management and compliance with ASC 606 and IFR 15 regulations. Adding these capabilities for all customers is "the start of an ongoing way to enable [our customers] to get into new business models" like subscriptions, Alam told the attendees.
And Microsoft will add advanced warehouse and transportation management by adding new capabilities from Blue Horseshoe, based on their AWAX and ATRAX products. The new tools will add advanced cross-docking, catch weight, retail pack & ship, material handling, and small package management, among other features, according to Microsoft. Blue Horeshoe has sold Microsoft IP for basic capabilities in these areas in earlier versions of Dynamics AX that became part of the core product.
The autumn 2018 release will also continue to improve on existing areas of priority, said Alam, including intelligence and insight, productivity, usability, and adaptability.
By that timeframe D365FO will also be well into the rollout of version 8....
