Microsoft Acts to Clarify Its Decision to Return Dynamics ERP Add-On Solutions to ISV Control

While it is true that Microsoft will no longer support the Dynamics GP Risk Management Suite as its own offering, the company worked to dampen speculation about its intentios by stressing in a new blog post that its reasons for the change were not a reflection on the specific products being transitioned away from Microsoft and back to the ISVs who developed them.

"To be clear - this transition has nothing to do with the quality of the product," wrote Errol Schoenfish, director of product management for GP, (his emphasis) about the Risk Management Suite, which is developed and maintained by Merit Solutions.

The discontinuation of Microsoft's OEM arrangement with Merit and others had been described previously by a Microsoft representative in terms of the offerings being "retired/removed" from Dynamics GP - and reported on by MSDynamicsWorld.com in that way initially. 

According to Microsoft, the move is more accurately seen as part of a larger decision by the Dynamics ERP organization to part ways with a range of OEM products that could instead be offered by the ISVs directly.  Schoenfish writes, "[a]cross all Microsoft Dynamics ERP products, Microsoft has evaluated the best way to serve our customers with the highest quality of products from Microsoft and through our Marketplace. Several products will be moved to our ISV marketplace across multiple Dynamics products."
