Microsoft and Mastercard have announced a new integration between Microsoft’s Dynamics 365 Fraud Protection and Mastercard’s Digital Transactions Insights identity solution.

The announcement is part of a broader plan between the companies to integrate Digital Transactions Insights with various Microsoft solutions. Mastercard’s offering aims to reduce fraud by analyzing a a merchant’s own data together with Mastercard’s network to verify consumer identities when authorizing and approving transactions, according to the companies. It can be used in a range of online checkout scenarios.

Digital Transactions Insights uses EMV 3-D Secure messaging protocol for consumer authentications and Mastercard Identity Check for authentication, according to the companies.

The integration of Digital Transactions Insights with Dynamics 365 Fraud Protection will give Microsoft customers better data in an “easily consumable and actionable format” when assessing whether to authorize purchases, do chargebacks, or offer refunds, according to the companies.

“This partnership lays the foundation for the future of global fraud prevention where data silos are no longer a barrier to security,” said Microsoft CVP Charles Lamanna in a statement.

The Microsoft Dynamics team partnered with Mastercard in 2016 on an integration of the cloud-based e-commerce payments platform Simplify Commerce with Dynamics AX.
