Management Reporter Lives On for Dynamics GP, But Without Major Enhancements, Microsoft Says

Editor's Note: This article has been updated with some clarifying statements from Microsoft on the future of Management Reporter for Dynamics GP and SL. 

Microsoft made a private announcement to Dynamics GP partners about Management Reporter's bleak future at last week's Amplify event, and this week the GP team has followed up with a public statement on the matter.

No, Management Reporter will not be discontinued in the short term. But it won't be evolving as a financial reporting tool for Dynamics GP. Microsoft product manager Pam Misialek confirmed as much in a new blog post, which we'll post here in its entirety:

Management Reporter for Dynamics GP will continue to be supported and ship now and in the future releases of Microsoft Dynamics GP.  Large features like going fully to the cloud and other major enhancements will not be made to Management Reporter for Dynamics GP.

The Management Reporter for Dynamics GP product will not be discontinued.

The announcement appears to have been an attempt to re-set expectations around MR for GP and to counter some of the more extreme rumors about the tool. (The other rumor that was not addressed was whether MR would live on in another form, possibly as a dedicated AX module.)

The post seems to have generated more questions from the community.

"I thought going to the cloud has been and remains one of the ‘big rocks' I always hear about at Dynamics GP events," wrote one "bewildered" commenter.
