An Interview With Dr. Scott Hamilton, Nine Time Winner Of Microsoft's MVP Award For Dynamics AX

The latest Microsoft MVP awards were announced on July 1st and Dr. Scott Hamilton has just received his for the ninth time. Scott has been a frequent contributor to MSDynamicsWorld.com with his column The AX Solution Architect. He also stays busy authoring a series of well-received books on using AX for supply chain management.

The new MVP award offered a good opportunity to check in with Scott and learn more about what it means to be a Microsoft MVP, how he approaches his work in the Dynamics AX community, and what he is looking forward to in the AX space in the near future.

You recently published 3 new books about Dynamics AX.  How would you summarize these books and your prior research?

My books have focused on using Dynamics AX for supply chain management (SCM) in manufacturing and distribution firms.  The three new books cover the software capabilities within AX 2012 R3 as well as the initial release of the new Dynamics AX, since they share the same business logic.  One book focuses on SCM for Discrete Manufacturing and a second focuses on SCM for Process Manufacturing.  The third book applies to both, and covers the major options for Warehouse Management.  My prior research and books across the past 13 years have also been summarized in two recent articles about Microsoft's SCM Innovations for Discrete Manufacturing and for Process Manufacturing.
