No, this is not the Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan movie, where every bad guy gets his butt kicked, while the stars get to solve the crime in a humorous way... hmm... I take that back! This time we did get to solve the crime, but why the title of the article? Because this crime had to be solved in 72 hours, and we needed to kick some butts to get it solved.
Three weeks ago, mid-morning on a Thursday, I was at one of my clients when my cell phone rang. My business partner dragged me into a conference call with the pretext that "all you have to do is listen in and answer a couple of questions about Microsoft Dynamics GP sales order entry process", after all, my business partner specializes in CRM and would certainly not be able to articulate a few of the responses needed by the client regarding the invoicing process in Microsoft Dynamics GP.
After an hour on the call, I found myself writing a Microsoft Dynamics GP customization to split transferred invoices from a batch of orders; by the end of the day, the client had requested my assistance with integrating its Microsoft Dynamics CRM system with Microsoft Dynamics GP and performing all the necessary testing to ensure the process we outlined during the mid-morning call was being followed.
