Ignite 2021: Microsoft launches Azure Percept to bring AI to the edge
Microsoft launched the public preview of Azure Percept during the Ignite 2021 conference. A platform combining hardware and software capabilities, Percept is intended to simplify the use of Azure AI at the edge.
The offering comes with a development kit, and users can get started with the offering through the Percept Studio experience. An intelligent camera, called Percept Vision, and Percept Audio ship separately from the development kit for situations where users need to connect with Azure services. These options do come with hardware-accelerated AI modules to support speech and vision at the edge. Microsoft is currently working with third-party silicon and equipment makers to create an ecosystem of edge devices.
