As part of the 2019 release wave 2 for Dynamics 365, Microsoft revealed new products that extend the portfolio's real world use of Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Among those offerings is the first preview of Product Insights, a service that provides near-real time analysis of data from connected devices and applications while promising a simpler deployment and lower cost than other IoT and AI options.

On its own, Product Insights is about providing better insight into how customers are using a company's products and then improving development, sales, support, and monetization. It is built to work as a standalone IoT dashboard, but it can be used in the context of existing data sources like Azure Event Hubs. And it is also designed to be useful to more complex downstream scenarios that involve Power BI, Azure IoT Central or IoT Hub, ADLS Gen2, and other advanced analytics.
