Directions EMEA 2017: Beyond Madrid, Dynamics NAV partners are eager for more Microsoft long term vision
Following Directions EMEA 2017, Dynamics SMB partners broadly acknowledge that Microsoft made some critical improvements to its 2018 plan for Dynamics NAV and Dynamics 365 "Tenerife", compared to its introduction two weeks earlier.
Still, the path forward for existing NAV customers and partners could use some more detail from Microsoft, says Directions EMEA chairman Christian Sega, who reflected on the event and the future of Dynamics in a new interview. In comparison to the Directions North America 2017 event, the EMEA keynotes were a significant improvement, Sega says.
"The message was sharpened and was more precise regarding the future of NAV: everything is under the umbrella of Tenerife [in the future]. However, I still would like more communication from the product marketing team about the finer points. That seems to be missing due to the team of Alysa Taylor is still finding their way with a new organization."
Partners will need not only more details but also a longer-term view than what they have today. Sega explains:
"What I really don't know is the mid- to long-term view. This is where the channel is insecure, too. The slides and message were coherent and say that Microsoft still wants to invest in NAV, but we don't know where this will fit into the Dynamics 365 story.
