Before Convergence 2014, Dynamics GRC Day will talk risk management, Microsoft Dynamics native controls

Governance, risk, and compliance topics may not cross the minds of many workers on a regular basis. But once the responsibility lands on your desk - like if a new audit calls out your department's lax standards - the pressure can ramp up quickly, sending you searching for ways to quickly turn things around.

The companies behind Dynamics GRC Day will use the Monday before Convergence 2014 to run their second annual event focused on (as the event name suggests) the governance, risk, and compliance issues that keep a select group of information workers up at night. 

GRC Day emerged in part from what its organizers perceived to be a shortage of focus on these topics at Convergence itself, with particular attention paid to risk management themes this year.

These days, companies are likely to be dealing with some of the concerns that are making headlines in the mainstream press. Data security issues are front of mind with the recent retail credit card data breaches. And HIPAA privacy concerns remain another top issue for some companies, says Andy Snook, president of Fastpath, who are helping organize the event.

Views on the cloud are changing among the GRC crowd, too, Snook says. "You don't see as much about the question of ‘how secure is my data'," he says, "But now the question is: will it be more difficult to audit my data in the cloud? How do I pick a cloud provider in terms of regulatory requirements? And how much more risk management will ...
