Bounce Foods Punches Above its Weight With Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016
Bounce Energy Balls are nothing like the old school protein bars with which they compete.
First off, they're round. Bounce Energy Balls were conceived more than 10 years ago in Australia by an outdoorsy husband-and-wife team, Andy and Paula Hannagan, who thought that the round shape would stand out among all those boxes of bars on a store shelf.
Secondly, they are more exotic. With flavors like Cacao Orange and Coconut & Macadamia, even Spirulina & Ginseng, they're not the wooden-tasting ordinary offerings in their field.
With eight balls available in four major markets (the US, Canada, Europe and UK, and Australia), plus distribution through third-party logistics providers (3PLs), as well as dozens more stock-keeping units (SKUs) beyond the balls (including displays and marketing materials), Bounce UK required far more horsepower from its ERP system than it might first appear.
The company was struggling on Sage Line 50 (chiefly an accounting package) as it expanded. "It's a classic small-business product," says Bounce UK Managing Director Gary Smith. "A very small business product. It didn't really fulfill the needs of a growing business, especially as we were moving to more sales. People doing transactions needed something more robust."
Among the pain points was the need for a mobile system; Bounce employees could not use the old system offsite.
Also true, it lacked the financial analysis capability that Bounce UK wanted, as well as basic stock management capability. "We couldn't have different locations for stock, which was pretty limiting with locations in the US and a couple in the UK," says Smith.
