Azure Updates: Managed Disk; ITSM Connector; Monitor Network Insights

A few announcements in recent days touched on backup capabilities. The Azure team indicated that Azure Backup provides configuration protection for Managed Disk in a limited public preview. The offering is intended as a "turnkey" way to gather lifecycle management snapshots, automating the creation of snapshots and using Backup policies without forcing users to carry out their own scripting or management. Backup itself now supports generally available encryption at rest.

Microsoft launched Monitor ITSM Connector for ServiceNow ITOM with Secure Export. Azure Monitor offers IT Service Management Connector, with the public preview of Secure Export as a way to automatically setup work items whenever Monitor alerts are triggered. Secure Export adds both AD authentication and secure webhook action groups.

On the networking front, Microsoft made Monitor Network Insights generally available. As a centralized console for network monitoring, it encompasses agentless configuration, ways to access health state, metrics, traffic and connectivity data, as well as debugging options and network topology views.
