AI updates for Microsoft Power Pages: Coding sites and better embedded Copilot Studio agents
Microsoft has added new and improved AI-related tools for Power Pages site development, both to automate some site building and to improve the capabilities and appearance of interactive agents.
Accelerated development for SPAs
A preview of a new Power Pages plugin for GitHub Copilot CLI and Claude Code will accelerate site development, Microsoft says. The plugin is meant to reduce manual configuration when developing a new Power Pages single-page application (SPA) site, according to Microsoft principal product manager Neeraj Nandwana.
Now in public preview, the plugin understands table permissions, web roles, site settings, authentication, and Web API patterns. It consists of nine conversational skills related to building an SPA site including creating and deploying a site, setting up a data model in Dataverse, connecting to live data, adding SEO and authentication, and doing final deployment to a Power Pages environment.
In one early evaluation, Microsoft MVP Nick Doelman documented his efforts to test the tools. Using the same prompts he had used several months ago for an earlier AI-related test, he found that the plugin allowed him to build the intended site without any of the manual work typically involved in a SPA.
