Adeaca Launches Advanced Projects 5.0 for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012

With Dynamics AX 2012, Microsoft introduced a Professional Services industry solution, known previously as the PSA module in Dynamics AX 2009.  This industry solution offers capabilities to help organizations manage their client projects, from tracking project opportunities through project execution, time and expense management, billing, and reporting. 

So why invest in an additional project management solution to complement AX? For organizations with many large projects across time frames of a year or more and with a more complex work breakdown structure (WBS), the out of the box features may only represent a starting point. 

Adeaca Corp. has released version 5.0 of its Advanced Projects enterprise project and portfolio management software, leveraging the improvements in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 and adding enhancements based on input from Adeaca's partners and customers, according to the company. The company positions Advanced Projects as a replacement for specialized solutions like project estimation, scheduling, resourcing, costing and reporting applications.

The Advanced Projects suite of solutions is geared toward different types of businesses like manufacturing companies faced with managing large and complex projects; civil engineering companies that need to effectively manage all the critical components of their projects; and professional services firms, focusing on ensuring projects are more profitable and better using resources to manage business processes in a single integrated application.

"With every module in AX, Microsoft has just tried to reach the minimum requirements for each specific industry to use AX," Bevort said. "That's fine because you're trying to make a general ERP system and you're trying to satisfy everybody, which is very hard."

But it's not enough for engineering-heavy companies or services-heavy companies that work with very large, very long-running complex projects ...
