As a long-time Microsoft Dynamics GP user and consultant with experience in a number of other accounting and ERP systems, I've had a wish list of features for years.  Some of those items I've communicated to Microsoft in the past and some not. After patiently waiting (not by choice), I have found that GP 2013 addresses a lot of my wish list and more.

To that end, I'd like to share my 13 favorite new features in GP 2013.  I'm not sure why 13, except it's a baker's dozen and the latest version of GP has a 13 in its name.  Here they are, in no particular order.

1. Reason Codes for Stock Movements/Adjustments

Reason codes are used to identify causes for and track costs associated with item stock movements and adjustments. Once reason codes are set up, they can be assigned to line items on inventory adjustments, variances, transfers and stock counts.

2. Purchase Order Receipt Tolerance

Has a vendor ever over shipped a PO to you?  The receipt tolerance can be set to prevent over-receipt of the original PO quantity of an item.  Likewise, it can be set to automatically close a PO if the receipt is less than the original PO quantity and the receipt is within the set tolerance.  That way, you don't have to manually close POs that haven't been and never will be fully received.
